When you have pets and you need to move, there are a few key things you need to do prior and during your move that will make things much easier on them (and yourself).

First, make sure your new home is pet friendly.  Do they allow pets?  Do you have adequate room for them to roam, explore and run?  Will they be safe?  Fence?

Second, ensure your pet is up to date with shots and has a current tags that identify their name and your contact information.  Also, get them chipped just incase they get scared and run away.  You have a much better chance locating them.

Third, on move day, place them either in a kennel, crate or in a bathroom with strict instructions not to touch or bother.  If this is not an option, perhaps a friend or local veterinarian can watch your fur-baby.  When the moving crew arrives and starts to work, many animals freak out because there are intruders or too much going on.  This causes much stress to you pet and to our crew.  If we are always watching the door so the dog does not run out, we cannot move you efficiently.  We are not pet sitters. 

Last, for the trip to the new house, provide a safe transport for your pet with adequate cool air, fresh water and plenty of breaks.

In your new home check for areas that may be unsafe and correct them prior to move in.
